Filter by Location

Click the dropdown beside one of the location types to filter the list to only those species that occur in the selected location(s). Note that the resulting list will include species that occur in any of the selected locations. For example, setting a filter for "Albany County" and "Medicine Bow National Forest" will return species that occur either in any part of Albany County, or in any part of the Medicine Bow National Forest, not just those that occur within the area of spatial overlap between Albany County and Medicine Bow National Forest.

Location Filter Settings

Select which map layers to use in filtering the list by location. "Documented Observations" will use only the observation data in WYNDD's database for the spatial overlay. "Range Maps" will use the watershed-based range maps WYNDD maintains in the overlay. Note that most of the more common plant species, many invertebrates, and a number of vertebrate species have relatively few documented observations in WYNDD's database, so including Range Maps in the overlay will provide more complete results for these types of species. With Range Maps, you can choose whether to include only species that regularly occur in your selected location, or if you would like to include species that may occur in your area only irregularly.

  Regular Occurrence
  Irregular Occurrence

Filter by Taxonomic Level

Use these options to limit the results to specific taxonomic levels by checking the "Species" and/or "Subspecies/Variety" option(s), OR by checking "Show Finest Taxonomic Level Only." If the "Show Finest..." option is selected, species-level records will only be returned if the species has no recognized subspecies or varieties occurring in Wyoming.

Filter by Occurrence

This option allows you to indicate whether you want your results to include only species that occur regularly in Wyoming ("Regular"), or those that occur irregularly in Wyoming ("Irregular", as in the case of an accidental bird). If you leave these boxes unchecked, the resulting list will contain both Regular and Irregular occupants.

Filter by Origin

Choose whether to include Native or Nonnative species in the results. If you leave these boxes unchecked, the resulting list will contain both Native and Nonnative species. Nonnative species are indicated by yellow highlighting, in the resulting list.

Filter by Residency Status

Choose whether to include Current or Historical residents in the results. If you leave these boxes unchecked, the resulting list will contain both Current and Historical species.
